Bohemian Glass Vase by Josef Hospodka for Chribská

1 item left

Large Czechoslovakian pink glass vase by Josef Hospodka for Chribská.

This tall, and very heavy, Bohemian sculptural vase has a lobed body with waved rim. The striking deep pink seems to float within the clear to create an interesting piece of art glass that serves a practical purpose and will be a thing of beauty for many years to come.

Created in the 1960's, the vase is made using what is called the Italian Sommerso technique - when various layers of glass are layered within an object to give a floating (sommerso / submerged) effect.

Designer: Josef Hospodka.

Manufacturer: Skarna Chribská

Dimensions: H. 14 inches x W. 8 1/2 inches

Condition: Very good vintage condition. Has a small, circular blemish on the rim - see images as they form part of the description.

Details: Josef Hospodka (1923 - 1989) worked for Chribská in the 1950s before becoming Director at Borske Sklo (which Skarna Chribská merged with in the fifties). He was Director of The Glass School (Kamenicky Novy Bor) from 1970 until 1985 before freelancing for Crystalex Novy Bor.
